What is Spirulina and why do I need it?
Spirulina is a blue-green algae that’s rich in iron, calcium, magnesium and B12. This is an essential nutrient that helps keep the body’s nerve and blood cells healthy and helps make DNA, the genetic material in all cells. Vitamin B12 also helps prevent some type of anaemia that makes people tired and weak. This is normally only found in animal sources so it’s important for those who aren’t eating meat to add this to their diet. (B12 can also be found in fortified foods like yeast extract, nutritional yeast and some plant milks – many of these are also in stock of course).
Naturya Spirulina powder is normally £11.99 for a 200g resealable pouch, but for two days (15th and 16th Feb), you can take 10% off, so it’s reduced to £10.79! We also have a smaller 100g pouch from Greens Organic – this is £5.95, or £5.35 with 10% off. You don’t need a lot of this every day; it’s recommended to use no more than 15g daily so the pouch will last for ages – add it to fruit juice, smoothies, soups, dips, stir fries or pasta sauces. It’s a vivid green colour so will add a colourful zing to whatever you use it in! This powder is organic, gluten free and Naturya is approved by the Vegan Society so is suitable for most diets.
